ABOUT
Olly began a career of prolific composing at an early age. By the age of sixteen he'd written play-scores, choral music and musical theatre works and joined the great Sir Peter Maxwell Davies on the prestigious composition course at Dartington's School of Music. A year later he was offered a place to study composition at London’s Royal Academy of Music.
At the Royal Academy, Olly studied with Chris Brown, Bob Chilcot, Nick Ingman & Paul Patterson graduating after four years with an Honours in Composition and conducting. He won a string of awards and composition prizes including The Pullen Prize, The Oliva Prescott Prize and the Eric Coats Prize. (Twice!)
Since graduating, Olly has worked on a succession of diverse projects for clients across the world.
In 2009, he won the prestigious ‘Stiles & Drewe Best New Song Prize’ with a song from his hit comedy musical, ‘Hot Flush!’
Olly has been involved in almost every sphere of music creation and production, working as Musical Supervisor and Orchestrator on West End and European productions, conducting and recording scores for arena events, television and national tours as well as writing numerous original musicals, Christmas shows and pantomimes.
COMPOSER
Olly has composed music for a huge variety of media and clients. He has written new musical adaptations of classics tales including PETER PAN, THE WIZARD OF OZ, THE LITTLE MERMAID, Roald Dahl’s FANTASTC MR FOX and HUMBUG, based on A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Other original musical written and produced include FOREVER EVE, THE MYSTERIES & HOT FLUSH, a comedy musical that has toured since 2007 and included a song that won an award for best ‘New Musical Theatre Song’.
He has composed new scores for various BBC shows at the Birmingham NEC, penned music and songs for over 200 pantomime productions both in the UK and abroad.
Olly is currently working on completing a number of new projects including a Jules Verne fantasy adaptation, an adult comedy and a vampire themed gothic horror. here is a selection of some of Olly’s writing projects past and present.
SUPERVISOR
Whether as a Musical Supervisor, Musical Director or Orchestrator, Olly has collaborated on dozens of shows and productions both nationally and internationally. Working in the West End of London as MD and conductor on shows including FAME, GREASE & PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED. He created new orchestrations for revival productions of HAIR, GREASE and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW in both the UK and Europe. He also helped score and record the soundtracks for debut musicals including David Hasselhoff’s LAST NIGHT A DJ SAVED MY LIFE, BOOGIE NIGHTS & ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR starring David Essex. He has also worked as Musical Associate on ITV’s The Royal Variety Performance.
